Your artwork is intended to be seen. That is the purpose of art – to visually communicate with a viewer. The collective of viewers whom see your work is known as the audience. When designing your work, especially in visual communication, it is crucial to keep your audience in mind. Target audiences are key to the success of a work.
This is why the most popular television shows are usually shown between 7:00pm and 11:00pm, at a time when most people are at home and available to watch television. Advertisements for acne medication and sneakers are more likely to be found in Seventeen magazine than U.S. News & World Report magazine. Toys are more likely to be advertised on children's television shows than on other types of television shows.
Google search an advertisement. Analyze two things: 1) audience and 2) message. Explain in your own words who the audience is and why? Then explain what the message is and why?
Finally describe if your feel this ad is affective, and why?
I found an advertisement for the Mini Cooper. The audience in my opinion is targeted for the younger, hip sort of people. Maybe in their 20's to late 20's. I think it's also aimed towards people who live in the city setting. The message is describing how small the Mini is, yet how versitile it still is. I think this is aimed towards younger people because of the styling. Smaller is more popular now a days. The fact that it's a hatchback also makes it popular for people in the city setting.
ReplyDeleteThe audience to the advertisment for wind power is everyone! because everyone should be pro-wind. the message is that wind was misunderstood before we used its energy, he just went around ruining peoples hair and umbrellas and what not. but now he gives us energy! he is our friend!
ReplyDeleteintel comercial where the workers at eating at the cafeteria and he sais that the best thing intel has made are the new intel core processors and at the same time a robot walks in and he gets sad because he heard the conversation and he and walks out.
ReplyDeletei think the message is that the new processors are the best thing they have made so far, i think the audience would be almost anyone since it is a very simple sence of humor.
i think this add is great and works well at atracting the attention of buyers
intel rocks!!!!

ReplyDeleteThe audience is clear here. They are targetting men. Men are most likely to stand on the bus/train where these advertisements are found, and they're the ones most likely to enjoy watches. There is no real message here, they just want to sell their product. They figured that the best way was to allow people to "try on" their watches before they buy them. I think it's effective because it doesn't insult anyone, it's memorable, and lets people try their product before buying it.
I decided to use the apple commercials, as a company apple try to attack their big bad competitors PC. A lot of their commercials are criticizing PC computers by saying all of the flaws they have within the computers. Then once they get the point across they start to tell everyone that is watching how great their products are. For the most part they are trying to target younger people that are into technology. A lot of apples products are a lot more up to date to were a lot of older people are not into but where they get everyone is the younger generation kids that go for popularity, or is just into editing more then anything. Also they make a wide range of products that people can buy not just computers.
ReplyDeletei google searched 'maybelline makeup'. The audience is young tenn girls and women of all sorts. Their catch phrase is "maybe shes born with it, maybe its maybelline." So the message they are coming across with is making women look beautiful, but natural at the same time. I actually believe that men wear this as well. Such as actors who have to wear makeup. I believe this add is effective because in all their pictures the women do look flawless and advertise their product very well. Even tho the pictures have alot of editing done to them, not everyone knows that.
ReplyDeletei searched ipod ads, i think majority of them target younger people. this is because its full of color and various lines to represent fast paced movement. the message is that music creates movement whether it be head banging or swinging your hips or whatever music generally makes you want to dance in some way and thats what the ads show.
