The Futurists and Vorticists glorified technology. They viewed technology as progress and as the positive future of the human race. Technology was seen as a way of making humanity better, more prosperous and more productive.
Are we futurists today? Does our society hold the same beliefs? Why or why not?
If so, is this a good thing? Do you agree with it?

yes we still believe this today. we have all these new technologies coming out and if society didnt think it was a good thing they wouldnt make/buy it. i think technology is a very good thing. it can help out a lot.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the person, I guess. Some people go towards being futurists, others don't. For example, my grandma hates technology because she can't really get used to it and I can so I look forward to future things. It could be a good thing, but then again, we might make a computer type thing so smart it could take over the world. D:
ReplyDeleteI think our society still holds those same beliefs because i've heard a lot about how they are trying to make robots now, I personally don't agree with that because I don't think having robots is good for a human race because eventually the human race will get lazy and there would be no need for humans if there are robots. On the otherhand, if you're just talking about updating computers and such then I think that's a fine idea.
ReplyDeleteWe are very much so futurists, people that are involved in the technology industry are always tring to make things more high tech, machines and technology bring us our food, and things we need everyday. i think that technology has made our lives easier, i think its a very good thing, until we rely on technology completely and we get fat, but i doubt that will happen.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are futurists today. Everything today is based off of technology. For example, 4g cell phones, ipads, ipods, and a lot more. Some of our society thinks its a good thing and that we should roll with it, and others think we should go back to the days where no technology was used. I think it's partly a good thing because we can achieve a lot more with technology. At the same time it's bad because i feel like were not learning to do things on our own as much.
ReplyDeleteyes. yes. because with the world today it is constantly advancing by the means of technology, the terms of being literate are even changing to mean understanding technology. yes it is a good thing that i agree with because advancing as a world is good to an extent as long as things are not getting taken out of control.
ReplyDeleteEverybody is a futurist. We've all discovered new technology that has somehow helped us in the present and everyboy from now on will be futurists creating newer and better technology. I think it's a good thing because it help us do tasks that are either too long to complete by hand or just for pure entertainment. Not to say that technology is not taking over our lives, because it is. And life would be a lot simpiler. But technology has helped us with medicine and has helped us for survive longer, so I'm all for it.
ReplyDeletei think that we are still accepting the vorticism. i think that we are still trying to make more advanced tech. we are always trying to put more things into phones, better tv, and ipod. there is so much more being developed. i think that this is a bad thing because this will make people more lazy. it can be useful but people should no rely on all of this technology throughout their daily lives. i will still use technology, but i dont need the newest model of something
