Other disciplines like science, psychology, anthropology and sociology use a theory system. This means there is an initial premise or idea which guides the work. The standard system works something like this: 1) observations of the world inspire an idea, 2) a theory is constructed (this is a hypothesis or statement), 3) the theory is tested through practice or study and 4) the theory is solidified by combining the initial observations, hypotheses and studies in a single, succinct statement.
Artists use a similar mode, such as the futurist or surrealist manifestos. Describe in your own words a theory exhibited by: 1) current artist(s), 2) past artist(s) or 3) yourself (make sure to include the type or movement you follow).
current artist's present more of a modernist theory in their work. They try to capture the change in our society and how our world is changing. A theory that past artists usually followed was more of an impressionist movement. They changed the traditional painting ways, and began painting outside in natural light. I would say that the theory i follow most is the futurist movement.
ReplyDelete1) Camp/kitsch/offensive art and photography, like Clayton James Cubitt and David Lachapelle. They do very offensive things with their photography and really push the envelope of "fashion photography." David Lachapelle, especially, has made a name for himself by taking pictures that sum up the stereotypical trashy Hollywood lifestyle.
ReplyDelete2.) De Stijl, exhibited by Theo van Doesburg. Started in the 20th century in the Netherlands, De Stijl (The Style) uses only black, white, and primary colors and all geometric shapes. It inspired paintings as well as installation art and furniture.
3.) "Subtle surrealism" is the theory I created for my self-guided projects. I use very intense colors and overlay them onto fashion/portrait photography to create a retro, washed-out look. It makes the pictures look other worldly, dream-like, or photographs from the past.
Now a'days art is becoming more technological it seems like video, animation ect. I think a new type of art is 3D art. we are seeing more and more lately like in the new movie Avatar, the art in this was great the thing that made it so good was that it was just crazy work. the color scemes, extravagent plants and animals.
ReplyDeleteive been told that nature photography is a movement.im not sure i follow a certian movement. I like to photograph nature to show people the beauty of the world that they are destroying with hope that they will join the movement to save it. i just wish i could change peoples minds with my art and i guess that is my goal. though i probally will never reach it. its nice to hope for somrthing like that.
ReplyDeletemy theory is that people is more moved by pictures if those pictures r hard to not look at.
ReplyDeletei like to use pictures to show stories or something behind them, specially tragedies. i think that a tragic picture or a set of pictures can show what someone is going through and it can move people, and even make them do something about it. i like the extreme meaning that i'm willing to take and show pictures that are very strong in emotion and that will make people feel something about what they r seeing, i like photojournalism
1) An artist start off following another artist's ideas what changes is how they view the world, different people have different tastes in are, how this reflects with the science theory is that they take one type of art and theorize, test by creating a sample of it and then see what people think of it.
ReplyDelete2) past artist's based most of their ideas on the human body and its beauty in itself, then turned to surroundings and then to abstract art, they followed the same steps as above only with creating completely new styles not just new ways to portray those styles.
3) me as an artist, am still on step number one just learning about different techniqes and just starting to add my own twists on each individual project, interpreting art as a whole in my own way
