Message Board Topic: The Future is Here!

http://www.eyeliner3d.com/cisco_telepresence_holographic_video_conferencing.html

CISCO has developed holographic projection telepresenece communication. With a holographic display projector, a hologram can be projected of any person (provided they have the holographic display recorder). CISCO believes this will revolutionize the way we communicate, the way we have meetings, and the way we teach (imagine a holographic school!).

The technology is costly as of right now, but according to CISCO the cameras and projectors displaying the holograms will become the new standard. Will people want to use this technology? Why or why not?

What is so impressive about the cameras and projectors used?

How can this be used to change the way we think about digital imaging, photography, digital art etc.?

  1. I hope this catches on.
It would be intresting to see all the different ways these could be used.
Is there a video of the demonstration of the holgram or are there only pictures?

  2. I think the people who can afford this technology will use it. I think its very cool. It might even save money actually, you dont have to pay fro actors.

  4. I think it's an okay idea, but it would probably put some people out of a job and that's not good for the economy. However, it is a cool idea and would be cool to use.

  5. I think this would be amazing technology to have for school or just anythihng in general it may be expenise but it would pay off. The only doubt you could have with this is people would stop having communication with eachother lik face to face.

  6. I think art would change in the the way that what would normally be 2d art would have to be thought of in 3d. 3d artists would be the new standard.

  7. People, of course, are going to want to use this. I'm not all that interested in it, but I'm sure a lot of people will pay a lot of money to get this type of technology. It's impressive because it's "futuristic".

  12. This is a huge thing. it is a big step towards 3D picturing. I think tht this is a technologly tht can be used very oftenly if they decrease the cost.

  13. i think that because it helps us communicate and it is a new form of technology it can only bennifit us. this would be really impressive and the "new thing" to have. if this became really big then it will become really popular then die down and become a typical thing, like video chating through phones.

  18. Its impressive that we can now project a 3-D image of a person or object through a computer or projector. This is an amazing advancement in the world of holograms and projections.
