Message Board Topic: Environmental Art
Explain how Environmental Art can be used as a form of protest. How can art inform and portray a message, especially concerning the environment? Think about the examples of environmental art - in, unto themselves they are not provocative. But they still make people think - how, why? When you respond to this, think about two key things: 1) how does art inform? and 2) how does art send a message? Then narrow it down specifically to environmental art/photography.

Enviromental art can be used as a form of protest for the hippies. If you dont want a tree to get cut down you can turn it into art and then they can't cut it down. Art can inform by showing you how something is beautiful. It can send a message to people and change they way they think. oooooh yeah
ReplyDeletewhen you take a picture of a dead forest, where everything is cut down, you would see how horrible it must be for the animals that used to live there. or a picture of trash on the ground. if you took pictures like this then people would see how we treat out enviornment. nature photos can be a form of protest because people can protest about littering, cutting down trees to save paper ect.
ReplyDeletei could see a piece of enviroment art being made out of trees that have broken or fallen, not cut down. the message would be that cutting down the trees is killing the enviroment but the ones that are naturally down we are free to use as we please. wooooohhhhhhhh

ReplyDeleteArt can inform in many ways, for example, you can make something out of something that represents what you are protesting in order to send the message across in a bold way. Personally, I would glue a million wall clocks onto my bus because apparently I'm ''late'' everyday, this way if I do this, I show my ignorant bus driver that I AM ON TIME.
ReplyDeleteI think the environment is good art because it shows the natural world and it's realism. I think the natural world is beautiful and theres art all around the world.
ReplyDeleteThe enviroment can portray a lot of different messages, everything in art with it is very natural and nice - or you could even turn it into something dark. Art sends whatever message the artist wants you to see, and that in a whole informs you what they were thinking, feeling, etc.
ReplyDeleteArt can be used to protest and portray messages by portraying a certain view, making the viewer`s eye go directly to what the artist wants. Art informs of the world around you, pictures of current events portray realistic elements others might not see otherwise, and art sends a message to the viewer good or bad depending on the angles, subject and edit. Enviromental art can portray the beauty in the eviorment or things such as global warming and all the damage being down on to the earth itself
ReplyDeleteI can be used as a form of a protest because it can show what's actually happening to nature. It's being cut down and replaced by builings and homes.
