Message Board Topic: Where is My Mind?

How does the mind relate to the brain? Some theorists think that the mind is the software or program application whereas the brain is the hardware or computer. Other theorists do not agree with this model/metaphor for the brain and mind.

This dilemma is called the mind/body problem and has been tackled by philosophers and psychologists alike. What do you think? Where is the mind? What is the mind? Does it exist in the brain or outside the brain?

Once you have determined where the mind is, think about where creativity exists. How do you define creativity? What makes someone or something creative?

  1. I think the mind and brain are the same because the brain is apart of the mind. I think they both have the same job in the body. I think creativity is when someone is unique and I think it comes from both the mind and brain.

  2. i think the mind and the brain are the same thing. just a different word being used. but i think that there are different sections in the brain, (which is true), that control different aspects of knowledge. there is a part of the mind/ brain that is more for creativity while the other has to do with things like math, science, history, etc. i think creativity has everything to do with how you see things in your mind and how you express them. you can show your creativity in many ways like writing, photography, painting, drawing, sewing, etc. what makes things creative is when you put your own twist to things. where you think of ideas in your head and put them down some how and make them into what you want them to be. that is creativity.

  3. I think the brain is where the mind stores it info. but it think the mind, or what we believe, comes from our experiences.
for example, we know math in our brain only because we learned it from our math teacher.
i think that creativity also is found by life experiences. creativity is thinking diffrently than whats normal for you and requires thought.

  4. I think the mind is your brain, in your head. It's your thoughts. i define creaivitie as a vision, if you create something your proud of it came from the soul, it's all yours, your creation, thus creativity.

  5. The mind is located within your brain and the entirety of the brain and neurons working together to make your mind work. Creativity is your minds ability to look at things in a new way in ways others may not think to see it. what makes someone or something creative is if they or the object possess this ability.

  6. creativity is something that no one else has thought of, it's something that no one else can create but you. Its specifically what that person can create that doesn't look like anything else that anyone has made before.

  7. I think that the mind is in the brain. It makes you think of what the mind is. Which is ironic, because you need a mind to think. You need the mind for everything, especially creativeness. It's amazing to think that neurons alone won't do anything impressive, but when you combine them together they create thought.

  8. The mind is how your brain thinks, its just the software to your brain.I think it's located outside the brain. Creativity exists in the mind and you get it by the different things that happen in your life that make you think differently. Everythings creative..
